Our vintage sari throws are handmade with love by women in Southeast Asia who have escaped human trafficking. Our partner organization in Calcutta, India provides these women with hope of a brighter future. By working with a fair trade organization, these women are able to support their families by making beautiful kantha throws from vintage saris.
It is estimated that 30% of people living in Calcutta, India are living in the slums. Many of these people may be very skilled and talented artisans, but because they lack the resources to market their goods, they are often left to live in poverty. Our partnership employs people out of the slums in India, and individuals are taught to make beautiful kantha quilts that they are able to sell in the world market.
At Seven Hopes United, our goal is to help the world's poor one person at a time, by connecting them with an international marketplace, where they can sell kantha quilts and sari throws made from sustainable and recycled materials. Because our vintage sari throws are made from recycled saris, each kantha throw is truly one-of-a-kind and unique.
We are always adding new vintage sari throws and kantha quilts so be sure to visit our Kantha Quilt & Kantha Sari Throw page often. Because each sari throw is unique, they make wonderful gifts for weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and more! Enjoy browsing our collection of vintage sari throws and kantha throws; we hope you find one (or two!) you can't live without!
