Blue Cornflower Block Printed Tablecloths

Each of our tablecloths is block-printed by hand. The blocks must first be handcarved, then each color-pattern is applied layer by layer. Note the rich teal backdrop and blue cornflowers, accented with vibrant orange and green leaves that this tablecloth has. Since the process of making a tablecloth is done completely by hand, each one is going to have a slight variance in ink shade and pattern. Coordinates with our Blue Cornflower Napkins.

About the Artist:
These tablecloths were produced by fair trade artisans near the Rajasthan region of India, using a traditional method of hand-block printing that has been an important art in this region for generations. If you look closely, you can sometimes identify the borders of the blocks and verify the handmade process. Initially, the blocks must be carved by artisans who specialize in the intricate designs used on the table linens. The border is laid down first. The outline pattern is printed, then other colors are added - usually four colors per linen. From start to finish, each piece takes 7-10 days to create. True works of art!
