About the Artist:
These table linens were produced by fair trade artisans near the Rajasthan region of India, using a traditional method of hand-block printing that has been an important art in this region for generations. If you look closely, you can sometimes identify the borders of the blocks and verify the handmade process. Initially, the blocks must be carved by artisans who specialize in the intricate designs used on the table linens. The border is laid down first. The outline pattern is printed, then other colors are added - usually four colors per linen. From start to finish, each piece takes 7-10 days to create. True works of art!
