Hi all, and happy April!
I hope your week is off to a great start. Around here, we’re excited about all things Spring, and that includes our gorgeous new pottery collection! These beautiful soap and ring dishes are made to order in Charlotte, North Carolina. The artist, Hope Fregerio, draws inspiration from the colors and shapes of the natural world. She often relates the glaze colors on her pieces to the organic inspirations around her: the mountains and beaches of the Carolinas. Her background in ceramic art and passion for pottery allow her to add beauty and fulfillment to her life and the lives of others through her pieces. Here are a few of my favorites:

I think any of these pieces would make a wonderful and unique Mother’s Day or bridesmaid gift. For Him:

2. Della. If she loves fashion and accessories, this one’s for her! Their products are hand-crafted in Ghana, West Africa, and sold in Los Angeles. Through jobs, education and job training, the women who make these lovely pieces are given an opportunity for a better life. Check out this gorgeous iPad case!
For Littles:
1. Help Ink. This company describes their product as “inspirational art that gives to those in need” and their beautiful prints are perfect for a nursery or child’s room. They donate proceeds to a variety of worthy charities, including The Children’s Hunger Fund and Thirst Relief International.
For Families:
I think this is a fun category! If you know a family that you’d like to buy a “together” present for, for example, a family with several small children, how about something the whole group can love instead of individual gifts?
1. Love With Food. This unique company is a monthly subscription box for organic, all-natural snacks. For every box sent, they donate a meal to a food bank in America. What a great concept! ]]>5 Ideas for a Fair Trade Easter
1. Start out with one of these adorable Mini Bolga Baskets, hand-woven by women in Ghana. Each basket is unique, so every child will have a basket entirely their own. They are the perfect size for little hands, and after Easter can be used at your local farmers market. A friend of mine has her kids bring their mini bolga baskets to the market, and they each get to fill them with their own healthy snacks for the week <3
2. I know fair trade chocolates can be hard to find in your local grocery stores, but if you’re up for the task, many co-op type stores carry yummy fair trade options. You can also order fair trade chocolate online – I found a few favorites here, like these organic & fairly traded Milk Chocolate Eggs from Equal Exchange. They also have some fair trade chocolate bars available.
3. Add one of these special little bunnies from Bla Bla Kids – handmade by expert knitters in Peru, with a commitment to fair trade. These lovies are sure to become one of your children’s favorites for many years to come. I especially love Pierre the Bunny with his green satchel & scarf. For your sweet little girl, there are a couple of adorable choices, Fleur (pictured here) and Mirabelle.
4. These sweet little decorative gourd containers are a fun & unique addition where your little ones can keep their special treasures. Hand-carved by a small fair trade cooperative in Peru, there are several designs to choose from available here at Seven Hopes United; you can also pick some up in person if you’re in San Diego this Saturday at the Little Italy Mercato.
