]]>We are a young couple from the Midwest who have a laid-back and eclectic style. Our first home is an apartment in Bloomington, Indiana (Home of the Hoosiers!) and we’ve worked hard to make hand-me-down furniture and thrift store kick-knacks look cohesive. I am a self-proclaimed “lazy girl crafter” meaning I love homemade, unique decorations but don’t have the patience for long projects. With Fair Trade items you get quality craftsmanship without having to do it yourself – perfect! After learning about and becoming an advocate for Fair Trade in college, Russell and I were excited to find a wedding registry to promote the cause.
Without further ado, here are a few of Kathleen & Russell’s favorite fair trade products!
1. Turquoise Paisley Table Runner
This beautiful table runner makes our $10 garage sale table look much greater than it’s worth. There are beautiful bits of red and yellow in the design which inspired the color scheme for our living space.
2. Turquoise Blue Vetiver Placemats
These placemats tie in well with the Paisley Table Runner. Best of all, you can throw
them in the washing machine with no damage done!
3. Green Ginkgo Pot Holder
My great-grandma’s favorite tree was the Ginkgo. She would display the dried leaves on the wall of her apartment, among the other oddities that she collected. This pot holder is sentimental, cheery, and bright.
4. Blown Glass Pitcher
In my opinion, this pitcher is one of the most beautiful items on the site. I can’t wait for winter to be over so we can sit on our porch and drink lemonade from it!
5. Handblown Drinking Glasses
These glasses, like the pitcher, are beautiful yet sturdy. We use them daily, but we’re also sure to put them out when guests are over!

]]>I recall being asked that question quite a bit when I was getting married. Mine were pastels in orange and pink! Whatever your colors were or are or some day may be, color plays a large part in most weddings!
We thought it would be fun to share some color inspiration that comes from Seven Hopes United’s many colorful items.

My most favorite part of my wedding planning was the wedding dress! I loved choosing my wedding dress and I found one I really loved. Since I didn’t have bridesmaids I didn’t choose additional dresses for friends or family but I can imagine that that process could be a very fun one too.
Today I would like to share some ideas on fair trade bridesmaid dresses and fair trade wedding dresses. At first, I thought I would just write about fair trade bridesmaid dresses but in my search for such dresses I found fair trade wedding dresses too.
Here are my picks for a fair trade wedding dress and two different fair trade bridesmaids dresses.
Celia-Grace offers several different fair trade wedding dresses for brides to choose from. Of the ones on their site I liked the Rachel the best!
Mata Trader’s Glam Noir dress would be a fun and flirty and also sophisticated and unique bridesmaid dress.
Perhaps Indigenous Design’s Luxury Dress may be an unusual choice for a bridesmaid dress, but I thought it would be a lovely addition to a more casual yet classy wedding.

Weddings and gifts go hand-in-hand, but this week I am not talking about gifts for the bride and groom. Rather, I would like to suggest some gifts for those around you who have loved and supported you throughout the wedding planning process. I’d like to suggest some ideas on gifts for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. I purchased fair trade jewelry and a little jewelry bag for the lovely ladies who stood by me along the journey to the altar. Being a person’s bridesmaid or groomsman is a special thing so I think it is important to thank these folks in a special way.

After putting in hard work supporting the bride on her wedding day the bridesmaids might greatly enjoy relaxing in this kimono robe.

You may have heard about fair trade wine, but did you know that there are fair trade beer and fair trade vodka options? Check out some fair trade drink options below that you could use at your wedding!
I’ve had Fair Hills Wine before and enjoyed both the red and the white wine I tried.
FAIR offers three different kinds of spirits: a Quinoa Vodka, a Cafe Liqueur and Goji Berry Liqueur. All three sound like they would be an interesting and tasty addition to a martini.
Here’s another one that I have tried! I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the taste of banana and beer together but it’s quite good.
If you are planning your wedding or perhaps have a friend who is, I highly recommend incorporating these or other fair trade wine, fair trade spirits or fair trade beer choices into you big day!

Over the years I’ve been to several weddings and of all of them only one was on the beach. It was a sunrise wedding off the coast of Savannah, Georgia and while it was obviously quite early in the morning, it was beautiful. I love the idea of a beach wedding. It can be lovely and sophisticated and yet have a touch of breezy carefreeness; that sounds like a wonderful combination to me!
